First restored in the 1950s and dusted-off in 2025, Casa Cometa offers accommodation over two levels and 400 Sqm, set and immersed in its expansive gardens. The house preserves its eclectic charm, seamlessly blending historical character with contemporary comforts. A place to stay with your favourites, cook, experiment, connect with nature and pause.

Bedrooms

Casa Cometa counts five double bedrooms, all shaped by an eclectic approach that blends Casa Cometa’s history with 21st-century comforts. Antique wooden furnishings are paired with modern design elements, while drapes, curtains, and textiles add warmth and intimacy. All rooms retain their original and worn by time Tuscan terracotta floors. Each bedroom is designed to accommodate two guests; additional beds can be arranged upon request.

The garden

A shaded garden surrounds Casa Cometa. Here, a large al fresco table anchors life outdoors. Ideal to host long lunches, wine tastings, and dinners under the stars. Plenty of quite corners invite guests to rest, read, or gather. Lying on the grass beneath the soft, filtered light of the pine trees, carried by the Maestrale breeze, remains a favourite way to pause.

The ground floor

Once dedicated to the farm’s agricultural life, the ground floor of Casa Cometa originally housed animal stables, feed rooms, and storage spaces for wine and olive oil. In the 1950s, these generous volumes were elegantly transformed, preserving the vaulted wooden ceilings and the quiet character of a rural property.

At the entrance, an ancient well offers a first glimpse into the house’s layered history. From here, the living room, dining room, and kitchen unfold. The living room is organised around a large fireplace, with seating that invites guests to pause, read, or connect. Tall porte-fenêtres flood the space with natural light and open directly onto the garden. A floor-to-ceiling library filled with books adds further depth and intimacy to the room, alongside a bust of Mr. Ponticelli – an important figure in the history of this house and of the Maremma region. The living room is connected to the convivial dining room, defined by antique wooden storage cabinets and a large central table. An oil painting by a family member and a historic chandelier complete the space.

The kitchen

The semi-professionally equipped kitchen offers a marble-topped central island, a professional five-burner gas stove, stainless-steel preparation surfaces, and a full range of modern appliances. It is one of the convivial centres of the Casa. Guests may cook for themselves or request a private chef service. Fresh bread can be delivered each morning, and wine can be ordered directly from our own production.

Private Events

Casa Cometa can be privatised to host private events, retreats and weddings of various scales. Its indoor spaces, together with the surrounding gardens, offer a flexible setting for both intimate gatherings and larger occasions. We collaborate with a network of chefs and creatives who can tailor menus and formats to your needs. Upon request, we can oversee the entire organisation and execution of the event. All events are subject to availability and quotation.

The sourroundings

Casa Cometa sits within a vast agricultural estate, nestled in the Pineta – one of Maremma’s most iconic landscapes. This coastal pine forest forms a shaded, fragrant corridor along the coast, home to deer, foxes, wild boars, and countless birds. Walking or cycling from the Casa through the Pineta toward the sea becomes a sensory journey.

From here, guests can continue exploring the surroundings by bike or car. A curated selection of our favourite places and local addresses is available upon request, alongside a range of additional experiences to complement your stay.
